New barrel? Or not?

I acquired an excellent quality French Lebel revolver model 1892 in 8 mm.......The barrel was shortened to eliminate the very high blade sight, and I am now faced with the issue of replacing it with an authentic full size barrel. Please give me some thoughts.... Thanks...

Numrich carries the barrel as #1103420, but at $135 I'd have to wonder if it's worth it, unless you're building a shooter for some form of historic arms competition. Even excellent pieces sell for under $500, and the replaced barrel will stop the collector.

Also, remember that for old guns, GPC's parts are from broken up guns, so their barrel may be serviceable but not in the "excellent quality" of your gun.
