I am currently getting 2960fps out a 26" stock sendero barrel with a 2" brake added. shooting a 240smk

I was considering getting a 32" barrel for it.. how much velocity will I gain?

With a case that large, and as much powder as you are burning in the 300 RUM, my guess is you will likely still gain about 250 fps by adding 6" of barrel.

Just something to consider when going to a 32" barrel, if you have your gunsmith add a 10" barrel bedding block your barrel will have the harmonics of a 22" barrel, which is good for accuracy.

Free float the action and the rest of the barrel and it should be a real long range tack driver.

Maybe a beanfield rifle for meese? :D

Okay, back to velocity, gang. Let's at least make a feeble attempt to stay on topic.

Art... your close on the beanfield.. I shot by best white tail last year at 725 yards with it last year... in a BEANFIELD..lol

But I dont usually carry it hunting.. its for LR plinking.. but last year was wide open fields... it came in handy.. usually I stick with my 300 win.. (not much of a step down.. but not as heavy to tote around)

My goal is hopefully to get it up around 3050/3100 fps.. its no slouch now.. but it would be a fire breathing dragon with those speeds.. case life might go out the window.. but it will reach out! Also I am still trying to find some 250 grain smk's.. I know someone makes them I have read about them.. they have a much better BC. even though sierra claims the 240 to have a .711 I dont think its that high...

A barrel block is a piece of aluminum or steel that surrounds a bull barrel over the chamber. Then the block is bedded to the stock with the action and remainder of the barrel free floated.

Here is a good article on what a barrel block does to enhance accuracy. http://www.6mmbr.com/gunweek075.html Although blocks do not have to be as massive as the one in the article...
