When I was taking in all the new toys, items, and designs at the NRA Convention this year, right here in Pittsburgh, I met a Rep from Barnes Bullets. He was talking up the New & Improved Barnes Banded Solid bullet! I have some experience with the beast, and I mean indestructible beast, using them in my .458 Lott, so we had a chat.
The endless question of large metplat versus round nose arose, and I being a retired law enforcement guy, I always choose reliability over bullet performance every time! If the bullet doesn’t get to the target due to feed issues, it doesn’t matter how well it WOULD HAVE performed otherwise! Everything being equal, a nice metplat in my opine would be nice, but, and there always is a but in life, watch this short video I did with the Barnes guy and some added information up front, a show & tell if you will:

Also find two photos I just shot of the new Barnes Banded Solid Round Nose bullets.
