New al-Qaida Tape Says 12,000 Activated
By NADIA ABOU EL-MAGD
Associated Press Writer

CAIRO, Egypt — Al-Qaida in Iraq claimed in a new audio tape Friday to be winning the war faster than expected in Iraq, saying it had mobilized 12,000 fighters.

The group also said it welcomed the Republican electoral defeat that led to the departure of Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, and it added that its fighters would not rest until they had blown up the White House.

Abu Ayyub al-Masri, also known as Abu Hamza al-Muhajir, also urged the U.S. to stay in Iraq so his group would have more opportunities to kill American troops.

"The al-Qaida army has 12,000 fighters in Iraq, and they have vowed to die for God's sake," a man introduced as al-Muhajir said in an audio tape made available on militant Web sites.

"We will not rest from our Jihad until we are under the olive trees of Rumieh and we have blown up the filthiest house — which is called the White House," al-Muhajir said.

Al-Muhajir became the leader of al-Qaida in Iraq after Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was killed in a U.S. airstrike in June.

The tape could not be independently verified.

The speaker praised the outcome of Tuesday's elections in which Democrats swept to power in the House and the Senate, in large part due to U.S. voter dissatisfaction over the handling of the war in Iraq.

"The American people have put their feet on the right path by ... realizing their president's betrayal in supporting Israel," the terror leader said. "So they voted for something reasonable in the last elections."

Describing President Bush as "the most stupid president" in U.S. history, al-Masri reached out to the Muslim world and said his group was winning the war in Iraq faster than expected due to U.S. policies.

He urged Bush not to withdraw U.S. forces so al-Qaida could have more opportunities to fight U.S. soldiers. "We haven't had enough of your blood yet," he told the U.S.

The speaker also referred to Rumsfeld's resignation and called on "the lame duck (Bush) not to hurry up in escaping the same way the defense minister did."

"They are getting ready to leave, because they are no longer capable of staying," the al-Qaida leader said, referring to U.S. forces.

"Remain steadfast in the battlefield, you coward," he said, addressing Bush.

That's 12,000 LEFT out of how many? They've lost many more than us. The simple fact is that, after the Vietnam debacle, and Clintoon's oh so stupid Somalia junket, there are those who truly believe that America hasn't the courage to stand up for what we believe is right.

No matter how it's spun, abandoning the people of Iraq to the tender mercy of the Fundamentalists will pretty much remove any vestige of our believability in the International Forum.

After that, how long before we run from Afghanistan? And how long before we find ourselves with the fighters in Iraq and Afghanistan moving into other locations in the world to continue the fight? Places like Canada, Mexico, and America.

Well, go to know that The Base is solidly behind the Democrats.

JR47, it wouldn't be long before we withdraw from Afghanistan and Iraq. If not 2007, then in 2009. We'll sell out the Afghans and Iraqis just like we did the South Vietnamese or the Kurds.

Of course we'll leave. The Dems have been saying this war was like a car wreck. Based on that analogy, we have a responsibility to render aid to those we injured. Unfortunately, the Dems know only one response to a car wreck: get away from the scene and deny involvement. If someone drowns/dies in the wreck, too bad for them as long as the Dems' political career is safe. I think it's called the Chappaquidic strategy or something similar.

When al-Zarqawi was killed papers were found where he outlined the fact that the Americans were handing them their asses, now all of a sudden they are winning faster than expected ?

Leaving Iraq and Afghanistan to the Fundamentalists may well occur. I do think, however, that it would be a mistake that the democrats would long rue. The follow-on reporting would be extensive and graphic, and eventually get around to blaming them for the debacle. The return of the troops to America would surge the entry of people into the job market, raising unemployment and welfare recipients. The market would fall because of this, and the uncertainty of terrorist activity. All in time for the election.

They, the dems, are busy positioning themselves for a run at Iraq already, displacing Hoyer from his position assisting Pelosi , and putting in Murtha. Hoyer is a long-time party mouthpiece, and is a bad man to cross. A little bit of infighting won't help them, either.

The Republicans lost this election because they didn't listen. I think you'll see the Democrats lose big-time because that's ALL they'll do.:)

Haven't they already pulled back from their calls for immediate withdrawal, and now want to study the situation more?

Putting Murtha at the forefront isn't exactly going to allow them much "wait and see".

The rhetoric of the campaign will soon die down. Pretty soon we'll see just what these people intend to do in the real world.:)

"We don't know what division will go to the frontier of freedom here. But I can guarantee you this: this class will move out, will go into the ranks of the Army. And somewhere, in some disputed barricade along the frontier, you will meet your destiny. And you will stack this nation's enemies like cordwood."

Huah!

I hope they've started recruiting the 864,000 virgins.
