New addition to the family: S&W 629

Hey guys
I just brought home my latest addition to my family - a gently used 629 w/ a 6" barrel. I have several questions I'd like your opinion on:
1) Any reason I can't replace the Hogue with a set of S&W wood grips?
2) What type of ammo do you shoot and/or what will this gun like the best?
3) Anybody got a favorite re-load they'd like to share?
Thanks in advance..........

1) Any reason I can't replace the Hogue with a set of S&W wood grips?

No reason at all you couldn't do that (just remember that your revolver has a round butt when buying grips). However, you may find that the Hogues are quite comfortable when shooting full-power magnums.

2) What type of ammo do you shoot and/or what will this gun like the best?

Mine (4" barrel) seems to like bullets in the 240-260gr range the best. My preferred carry loads are either Remington 240gr SJHP or Speer 240gr Gold Dot.

3) Anybody got a favorite re-load they'd like to share?

17.5gr of Alliant 2400 with a Winchester Large Pistol Primer (no need for magnum primers with 2400) and 250gr LSWC shoots well, but it's kind of dirty. Bumping the charge up to 20gr of 2400 shoots just as well, but burns a good bit cleaner.
