New Acquisition, M13-2

Just won this piece at auction for $370. Normally, I wouldn't have gone that high, except this thing looks absolutely sweet!

Here's the description and a couple pictures:

100% Correct S&W Model 13-2 serial # 4D390xx, that is Pinned & Recessed, 4" Barrel, #PC (Plain Cloths) Grips and the condition is Excellent-MINT, cal. is a 357 magnum, this revolver appears unfired.

Did I let my emotions get the better of me and pay too much?

Anyone know when this was made?

Thanks for any input...Signed, 'Impulse Buyer'.....again... :o

SW, I know you like K frames....

I was actually searching for a M65 3" in good condition....I think I saw a post from you having one of these.

But when I saw this 13, it's condition and the price (started bidding at 360), I couldn't resist.

Most of my shooting experience has been with autos...but I'm starting to get into revolvers. They're cool!

My first was a M642, this is my second. I'm planning to have a smith I know set it up for moonclips and add a red ramp front sight.

I am a K frame 357 Magnum fan. I had a M65 3" and I just traded it off. They were great revolvers. I am thinking about buying a shooter M13 I spotted and doing the same. I figure I might have it hard chromed. The local shop wants $249.00 for it. I don't understand why S&W didn't make the ultimate 357 Magnum. It would be a M65, round butt, 3", ported, Hi-Vis front sight, Pachmayr Compac grips, cut for moon clips, DAO with bobbed hammer, wide and smooth trigger and a larger angled thumblatch. Produce 1,000 units and they would all sell for $650.00 per. Engraving and custom grips optional.

Thanks for the validation...

and for the production date info, Gabby.

As nice as this thing looks, I'm going to be hesitant to shoot it!....but I will shoot it. A lot. Just got all the dies for .38/.357, so I'll be having some fun working up some practice loads for it (and for my 642).

Gabby, where does one go to find that sort of information? Some book or manual, or is there somewhere online to look it up?

Thanks. Stay safe.....and have fun......('make up your mind').

Thats a nice looking 13 you got there! You don't hear to much about the mod 13. I was in a pawn shop and picked up a mod 13-4 with a 3 inch barrel with the hogue mono grip that looks like new for $200. I know the guy that runs the pawn shop and he gives me good deals on guns. I diden't know I got that good of a deal!

Again! that is a sweet looking gun you have. It has that classic look!
