New 870 Express Tactical w/XS Ghost Rings QC issues

My cousin purchased a Remington 870 Express Tactical w/XS Ghost Rings. (His first shotgun) When he opened the box he noticed that there was no rear rail installed. The store rep said that Remington must have forgot to install it at the factory. If they forgot to install something so obvious and it passed QC... I wonder what else could be missing. Is there a way to contact Remington via email? Has anyone else come across this problem? I've also read that the shotgun mag is 6+1 instead of the advertised 7+1 I'll get him to check that out before he returns it.

If its an 18" barrel, its 6+1. They advertise this as a 7 shot, because 6+1 = 7. It does not say 7+1 on their website.

A rail is not a needed part on a shotgun, and Remington produces a lot of shotguns without rails. It's likely the QC tester didn't realize it was supposed to have a rail, but everything else passed.

If your buddy really want the rail, have him call up Remington explaining that his didn't have a rail shipped with it, and they'll either have him return the gun so they can put one on, or ship a rail to him (depending on whether or not the receiver needs to be tapped to mount the rail).

Edit: They ship a version of that particular model without a rail, so it looks like someone mixed up the models and gave your buddy the wrong one. Have him take it back to the gun shop and point out to them that they didn't give him the one he asked for. This is likely not Remington's fault.

I have sold a few of them. The rail doesn't come installed. The rail and rear sight come in a clear plastic tube with plastic caps on the end and XS sight removable insert/label. You have to install the rail & rear sight yourself. It includes some loctite for the mount screws.

The XS Sight tube should be in the box. If not it fell out, Remington forgot to put it in or someone @ the store took it. Call Remington they will probably send you one.

Called Remington twice and both reps said the rear rail is supposed to be installed at the factory and not separate in the box. It would be nice if their support had accurate details.

From my experience with the 870 ET, the Reps are wrong.

Post your question in this thread and see what some of the other owners of the 870 ET XS GRS sights have to say. Maybe Remington changed things since I had some in stock.
