Hey yall i just got a black 870 (HD) with a 7 shot capacity with an 18" barrel. Now its time to have some fun with it. I want to make it a very tactical shotgun can yall tell me what to put on it and where i can find the items.

Congrats on your new shotgun..I bought an 870 HD last yr and gave it to my dad as a Christmas present..you can try www.deltaforce.com or www.atigunstocks.com If I were you, I'd go with a pistol grip/full length stock and maybe a side saddle or 2. A tactical sling and a set of ghost ring sites should complete the package.. If you really wanna go full tactical a surefire fore end from www.surefire.com is a definate must. :D

Is this a joke post?

A "very tactical" shotgun"? hahahahahahaha

I would suggest learning how to use the the weapon before pimping it out with curb feelers and such.

Learn how to drive before you buy performance parts.

thanks for the help. i went to this website www.atigunstocks.com and everything seemed so cheap. I liked the prices but is this good stuff. i want to get the buttstock with pistol grip, the standard forend, heat rail and the side saddle. can yall go to the site and tell me if it is good stuff.
thanks

AUG get a life! im here trying to get advice and your on here cuz you obviously think your captain know it all. Your probably a really lonley guy and this is the only place you can talk sh*t.

Stout,

Are you using this for HD only?

I wouldn't waste money on the heat shield! Just keep your skin away from the hot parts, how hard is that?

I started with a Surefire integrated weapon light because it makes sense to see what you're shooting, besides a shotgun, flashlight, and a door handle can get tricky.

After that I sent the barrel to Hans Vang. The tight patterns this thing can shoot are incredible.

I had a couple guys standing behind me the range last year. One of them made a comment about my being another one of those guys with a twenty-eight pound shotgun. After I shot fifty rounds and could cover the hole in the target with my hand the other guy said, "I don't care how much it weighs, it shoots good." :D

If you still want a standard forend, I'll give you one that came off a new shotgun. Let me know and I'll mail it to you.

The only accessory needed right now is Ammo. Go through a thousand rounds or so. Shoot clays, plates, landfill rats, old refrigerators but shoot the thng. Learn by using the weapon until it feels like a body part. At that time, decide what the weapon needs.

There's Shotgunners and there's Collectors of Shotgun Paraphenalia. The difference is most obvious post action. The Shotgunners are most likely to still be vertical and functioning.

Also, If anyone ever comes after me with a shotgun and malice aforethought, I hope and pray they are toting a Pistol Grip Only Pimp Special....

I agree with what Brian and Dave are saying. Shoot, shoot, shoot, and then see what it needs. You should know that shotgun like the lady in your life.

There is a picture of my 870 posted someplace else on this sight. You'll notice it's not a pretty shotgun and it shows signs of much use.

Know yourself and know your equipment!

Has anyone mentioned ammo yet?
You might also want to buy a thrower and several boxes of clays to hunt.

Whole heartally agree with this post... one of the things i've been thinking is building my 870 from 'scrach' (IE geting the recever, trigger assly, stock, barrel, etc) and building myself..

the only thing i will say on top of this is what i would do is get the stock i want before dumping the few thousend rounds through it... i just have a feeling that if i shoot 1000's of rounds through a montie carlo stock, then swich to a pistol grip it will feel differnt...

so maybie at this point i would get the Surefire forend and whatever buttstock you wanted.. and thats it so you can get a feel for how your shotgun will feel, inseade of doing all of that afterwords...

i think i repeated myself in there.. but blah..

Just me thoughts
Jess

(PS senice I havent searched on it yet.. perhaps someone can list the posiable mods to be done.. i'm thinking stuff more to the action, like trigger pull, perhaps a way to shorten the pump action etc... i know the barrel is a big part of increasing the accursey of the 870 but is there other ways on top of it?)

Stout, don't be a dummy. Follow the advice given on this post. BUY AMMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOT TACTICAL STUFF!

"Tactical" parts are the things of mall ninja's.

I know more about the real world use of the shotgun than you can hope to learn, mr. "tactical" man.

If you want tips about the use of the shotgun just ask and I will help you.

If you want to know the best "mean lookin'" parts to buy then I'm sure there are at least 20 different websites that can help you.

Stout---if your gun has the J-safety---I would recommend replacing it with a normal safety if you want to change parts out.

I got mine at Midway for $3.00---Remington factory part-----and it took about 10 minutes to make the change.

Other than that-----go shoot the snot out of it.

Sling. Tactical fore end with Surefire. Rugged sights with Ghost Rings. Extended mag tube optional. Side Saddle.

I quote those features from the Louis Awerbuck tape "Combat Shotgun." In his opinion, the tactical forend with SureFire 6P light is critical, since you'll have both hands on the shotgun and will need to have the light incorperated. The sling is probably the 2d most important. and most used. These accessories can be found at Scattergun Technologies, which is a subsidiary of Wilson Combat.WWW.WILSONCOMBAT.COM

I personaly think that Awerbuck is one of the finest firearm instructors in the world. He's not a fan of unnecessary adornments on any firearm. But he's for the above mentioned ones. His has them.

Stout,

I put a 20" barrel and an eight shot magazine extension on mine. That's it. Shoots like a dream.

The advice about shooting it a lot before adding accessories is good advice IMO.

You owe me a new pair of Fruit of the Looms. You made me pXss up this pair.

i haven't thought about curb feelers since I put a pair on my 68 VW. I once gave a lift to a very fat lady. The curb feelers (passenger-curb side) rubbed the road all the way and made a terrible racket, 'till she got out. Neither of us said a word about the noise. (Elephant? What elephant -- if you'll pardon the pun).

What good is living if you can't laugh?
