New 642

I recently posted a question concerning the alteration of my old S&W mod. 37 to a DAO. Some of you who responded may recall that you urged me to leave my gramps old mod. 37 alone, retire the old girl to the gun cabinet, and pick up something new. Well I took your advice and a week ago picked up a new S&W 642. Today was the first chance I had to take it to the range, and I must say I am very pleased. She did OK with the Winchester hp's I tried, but really liked the Fed 110 gr. hydra shock's, I shot several 2" groups from 15 yards :D . The only gripe I have about the new addition is the damn ugly lock. I don't think the lock would be nearly as offensive if it wasn't for that obnoxious looking scratch-like arrow :barf: , but I digress. I couldn't resist that last part. Other than that bit of criticism for S&W, I have to say I am very pleased.

So thanks to all who took the time to respond.

Next on my list I think will be a 3" S&W 27 or 28. ;)

Unless you go custom, you won't find a 3" 28. They were made in 4" and 6". Although Smith made some 627s with a 3" bbl (might be 2 and 5/8). Clint Eastwood co starred with one of these guns in "Bloodwork".
