First post to the forum.., had to tell someone who gives a crap. I just got done tuning my new 700 Long Range, and all I had to start with was Remington factory Copper Solids in 165gr. Imagine my surprise when, after setting zero on the scope, the first 3 shot group measured .33" ctr to ctr. Optics are Burris 4.5x14/42. To say that I`m pleased would be an understatement! Now I`m wondering how much better I can do with my hand loads. I really can`t see it shooting much better, but we`ll see.

Welcome. Don't change anything. With a factory 700 in a stiff kicker such as that...it probably don't get better than that. I have a 700 in 257 Wby mag, when I first zeroed it at 300 yards with Weatherby 100 gr SP ammo, it was about 2". I like to handload, but reality being the way it is, I just bought more of that ammunition, even though it is about $70.00 for 20.

That`s some shootin` with the Weatherby. The LR has the HS Precision 40X M4 stock with the full aluminum block and a 26" bull. It isn`t all that uncomfortable to shoot, but you don`t have to wonder when it goes off! I`m going to try 96gr of RL22 under a 168gr TTSX BT. If I can get it to group even close to that, I`ll post a pic. Thanks for the add!

The only reason I haven't scored one of these--or a 338 lupua or 50 bmg--is the per-round cost. Once I'm in the 6 pack of beer per trigger squeeze I'm outta there.:D

I feel your pain, but I`m an addict. I have to see what will happen. Why else would I sit behind this BEAST of a gun and abuse myself day after day, but I can`t help it. I`m shooting 2 more loads thru it today, along with another one I`ve wanted to try in the 308. I`m down in the back right now, so I can`t deer hunt, so if I don`t do something I`ll go bananas.
You guys all seem like good guys. I`ve been on several forums where all they wanted to do was curse and argue.., I don`t have to take time out of my day to find that. Look forward to all correspondence in the future.

300 win mag is a good compromise--I think factory ammo is cheaper than I can reload for it--or very close. It's a big-banger but very reasonable for a 30 cal that gets the wallop out there.
