If you are going the route of "gunsmith fit" barrel, rather than just a new, Colt factory barrel, you'll want to spend more time on who's going to do the fitting, than on the barrel brand; pick your 'smith and go with the barrel he prefers.
If you're the least bit handy, installing a Kart . . . Accu-fit (I think that's what they're called now; I installed a couple when they were called EZ-fit) barrel can be fun and rewarding.

Just out of curiosity, why does your pistol need a new barrel?

Do you have a budget in mind? You can spend anywhere from $50 to $500 to put a new barrel in a 1911.

The last two I have built I used Nowlin http://www.brownells.com/handgun-pa...amped-prod96801.aspx?avs|Make_3=1911&psize=96. A little fitting but its a good barrel
