I finally got out and shot my 1858 I picked up over a month ago. I was shooting 30g of powder with .454 round balls and it shoots dead on at 15 yards. It is much more accurate than my 1851 Pietta that shoots high. I paid $170 at Cabelas and I think it is well worth the money. Very good gun for the price.

I purchased one used a few months ago and love mine. Next for me is a flintlock long gun of somekind. Kentucy rifle maybe. Nice picture.

Nice gun.

My 1858 (Uberti) with 24 gr. Pyrodex P is much more accurate than my brother's expensive modern 1911-style .45 ACP automatics. He was astounded. Yesssss.

Mr. Jimmy,
A few years back I decided my life would be complete if I only had a 38 cal flintlock.
I purchased a Petersoli.
I soon learned that the reason you always see pictures of the mountain men with two horses is it takes that extra horse to carry all the stuff needed to keep a flinter running.
That is one of the few guns that I was glad to see out the door.
The percussion cap was a marvelous invention.

Well Utah, if you have not tried bp, then you have
gotta burn some in that new remmi of yours, the 58
was born to smoke real black :D hey pard if you get
the chance just try some, i kid you not you will love
it, and take no notice of those who say black powder
is much dirtyer than sub, hah yeah right, have fun
with that smoke pole.
