New 10/22s

I just finished another 10/22 upgrade. Volquartsen target hammer, about $35
from Midway. 10/22 plastic/ camo stock, 50th. Anna. model. I have done 3 of
these in last month. Gritty trigger groups, slop, plastic trigger housing and you
have to relieve mag well of mould marks and camo wrap. I bought 10/22 when
they 1st. came out, the best gun for money, even back then. I think Bill would
flip in his grave to see how they have cheapened this fine design.
 
He'd go into hyper-space if he saw mine. I expressed blued the barrel since this image was taken. A toe plate was made and fitted. Presently I'm working on the patchbox release (yes, the other side has a hand made patchbox).

 
The plastic trigger group is stronger than the cast aluminum it replaced. I can't say for sure about anything newer than 3-4 years old, but the ones I have with the plastic trigger groups are FAR more accurate than any of the older guns. I think Bill would be pretty proud.
 
Are the newer Ruger 10/22's as good as the older ones?

I think Bill would flip in his grave to see how they have cheapened this fine design.

I did not see a question in your post, so interpreting what you are communicating;

I have been doing trigger work as well as other modifications, for many years and by my measure, NO they are not as good but still very functional and reliable. Their triggers have always fallen short. Every time I work on one of the latest generations, I wonder what new problems I will run into. .... :confused:

Thankfully, I can still get good results with crisp let-off, no creep and a pull that will range from 1.5 to 2.5-lbs. However, just installing a Volts target hammer kit, is an incomplete job. You have to lightly hone a few contact points. They are still that good and when that stops, I will stop trying to make them better ... ;)

Now that is way over the top and I like it. I have see and done many conversions but none as unique as this one. Would you show us a picture of the patch-box?

Custom 10/22 stock

4v50 beautiful work, how about pics of trigger guard. I have buddy that does
all his gun stocks A la muzzle loader. He has a 458 American 2" on 98 Mauser
stocked similar. It really makes you feel like your handling a muzzle loader.
When you touch it off the recoil sends you back to 18th century. Ha-ha.
Really nice work, no kidding!
 
I bought my 10/22 new in 1996, and proceeded to replace just about every component except the receiver, and the bolt group. Stock, 16 in. bull barrel, Power Custom trigger, hammer, sear, shim kit, the rest is VQ. It is a tack driver, and a blast to shoot.
