The nations of the world joined Monday in solemn remembrance of Sept. 11 but for many, resentment of the United States flowed as readily as tears. Critics say Americans have squandered the goodwill that prompted France's Le Monde newspaper to proclaim "We are all Americans" that somber day after the attacks, and that the Iraq war and other U.S. policies have made the world less safe in the five years since.

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!

Yes, as long as America was a "good victim" we had the good will of the world. But then America had the unmitigated gall to rouse to action and to take arms against our enemies.

Now, the world commiserates with the poor victims of American aggression.

Well, I never held the sympathy of others in too high of esteem. I have always found the cost much too high - i.e. self respect and wallowing in self-pity instead of choosing to get on with life.

Cute. Very cute. Not. I don't suppose you could have titled your thread on the politics with something that was NOT designed to play off the one I started and that is already going, and that Capt. Charlie put off limits to politics?

   Cheap. Crummy.

I certainly haven't forgotten that our president STILL hasn't gotten the man who did it to our innocent people, because he diverted precious .mil resources away from getting him, to some other uncalled-for war, to satisfy a personal vendetta, among other reasons. I don't care about what the rest of the world thinks. I'm just amazed that many of OUR citizens think that Shrub is actually doing a good job when 5 years and humpteen billion dollars later, Osama is on the loose. It's not rocket surgery - either we got him. Or we didn't. What a colossal failure of a leader - the one who said "wanted - dead or alive." I say retribution is necessary as a deterrent effect, and he has not delivered. In fact, we don't even currently have any leads. Impeach Bush!

I'm one of those who thinks he has done the job as well as anyone could have and better than his predecessor. If you feel finding one man in the mountains of Pakistan is such an easy task buy a ticket and visit the region. Let us know what you come up with for leads.
I'm not saying this to be mean spirited. I'm saying this because it really galls me when I hear people bad mouth the job we've done without having any knowledge of the operating environment, and by knowledge I mean lived in the area, worked in the area, interacted with the people in the area, not reading news articles and watching the scenes from the comfort of their living room. Contrary to what seems to be popular belief on TFL Bush doesn't do the mission briefs or debriefs. He's not the one looking for UBL and bleeding hearts who don't want anyone's feeling hurt impede what could actually be done to find him as well as other terrorists.

Rant complete now back to the regularly scheduled thread.

"I'm just amazed that many of OUR citizens think that Shrub"

Aw, isn't that cute - Shrub. Did you think that up all by yourself? Are you in junior high school or what?
