Never Fired Condition--Opinions Apprciated.

I'd like some opinions on 3 of the handguns I've just inherited.

The first is a SW 39-2, Manufactured in 81 and still NIB(new in box). The maximum value of the gun seems to be around $500, and by what's available via internet searches, NIB condition isn't all that rare. I would kind of like to shoot this gun and I'm not sure the loss in value of $100 to $150 is really enough to prevent me from shooting it. At 56 years old, I doubt I'll be around long enough to see any appreciable gain in the value of the gun that might come in the future from keeping it in NIB condition. Do you agree?

The second gun is a 2-441049T, Taurus Judge. Although I am waiting for a confirmation call or email from Taurus, it appears that this gun. ser #51, is the 51st gun of this model made. Matte SS finish, 2 1\2 inch cylinder(non-mag) with a 4 inch barrel. Again this gun has never been fired, but the gun is in a nylon holster. I don't have any of the original packaging. All I have is the taurus manual. Once again, this is not a high value handgun, but it does have some things going for it. What's you opinion of maintaining the gun in new, but not in the box condition?

The third gun, which we haven't found yet, has different issues with me. It's a SW M500. When found, I assume it will be unfired also, but at $1.50 to $2.00 everytime you pull the trigger, it's not something I would ever be doing a lot of. It's just me, but I can't see the enjoyment I would ever get from shooting this gun exceeding the financial guilt I would feel from shooting it. Since I would at most shot one box of 20 through the gun, should I just keep it in unfired condition?

If you haven't guessed it yet, I'm not an impulsive person. I'm just curious of what some opinions might be concerning my thoughts about the guns. What would your thoughts be? What would you do? If nothing else, I've learned that there are a lot of well though, level headed people participating here. Thanks.

If you aren't interested in reloading, and don't really have a need for the .500, I'd sell it. There are plenty of them around, and I don't see them becoming collectibles anytime soon.

The 39-2 is a good shooter, 9mm is cheap, and that one should be a keeper and a shooter.

The Judge... I'm not sure if being in the first 100 made (you said #51) might make it a collectible. Hopefully somebody else has a better idea on that count. If so, you might keep it in the box. If not, might as well either shoot it or sell it.
