Never Dull ok for cleaning

Just wondering if anyone has used never dull to clean rifle/shotgun barrels & receivers. I have used it to clean other metal things just curious about guns. Is it safe to use?
Not sure if it is safe on the blueing of my rifle. I have a shotgun that has been sitting for a while with some varnish on it, was thinking never dull might clean it up nicely.

Never Dull is made to make metal shine, I dont think it will work for blued steel. But on the other hand if you had a stainless steel barrel it might work pretty well.

I used it on the barrel and receiver of my 30-30 lever action that is blued. I bought the gun used and it was sitting for about a yr before I took it home. The never dull removed a ton of unseen tarnish and brightened the luster of the blue a ton both on the barrel and receiver. I wiped it off then applied a thin coat of eezox.
I did the samething on my shotgun which was also sitting around untouched for yrs. Again removed a ton of tarnish and again I applied some eezox after wiping the gun down to remove the never dull.
I heard if the never dull is left on the gun it could remove the blue finish, not really sure how it would do that but I followed the directions anyway.;)

What is the proper cleaner for a blue finish?

The proper cleaner for blued steel is a solvent/oil soaked rag. You don't clean a gun by "polishing". Using Never dull (or any other type of polish) on blued steel will "polish" the thin bluing completely off if you keep at it long enough. Any type of "polish" is just a very fine abrasive. Save the Never dull for your brass belt buckle. Get some Breakfree CLP for cleaning.

Exactly what drail said. Steel does not tarnish. Only non-ferrous metals tarnish. I've used Never Dull for years. Just not on my guns.
