Network Neutrality

I was wondering what yall thought about network neutrality. There is a bill in congress that would allow ISP's to be able to discriminate on who they offer faster service.

Here's a few articles:I'd like to be further enlightened if anyone knows anything more about this. Thanks!

I'm not sure. I'm going to be getting dsl on SBC for $14.95 a month. I don't want to have to pay more. But I also don't want to sign up for something like MLB tv to watch baseball games over the pc, and have the video stopping and breaking up on me because SBC gives their stuff priority over the MLB feed.

"Network Neutrality "

S.2360 Internet Non-Discrimination Act of 2006
Wyden D-Or.

Utter nonsense and ignorant spewing of trash aimed at the ignorant herd followers for the simple end of garnering votes come election time.

Typical "junk bill".
Nothing in it is workable or even feasible.

Come election time, the sponsor can say to the voters " I tried to, but was shot down",,,then everyone will grin and nod their heads - just like the bobble-head audience in the infomercials....

The links that grey_pilgrim listed related to some House Bill that would allow for certain network discrimination.

S2360 is a Senate Bill that would maintain the current neutrality and is completely workable, as I read it. It is the exact opposite of the House Bill.

What I was looking for was the House Bill referenced in the OP.

Yeah - it's so workable that nobody else thought so (no co-sponsors).
Even the "rats" can sniff out a brick that's going to sink.
Short broadly defined bills with no co-sponsors are usually nothing more than a political gesture.

Sorry Anti - nothing in S.2360 is workable or even close to workable. It's pure political pandering to the masses and double talk.

As far as the HB - sorry - my bad.

I'd been following the Senate one I mentioned.

Of course no one wants to sign off on this. It would prevent the Congress from taxing the net... Something they seem to threaten us with every other year or so.

When it comes to "free money" they like to keep their options open.
