Negroponte, a deserving Intel Czar.

Good move by Bush to call Negroponte back from Iraq and entrust him the Intel Czar post in Washington.

Negroponte will bring his considerable talents to bear in the intelligence community and present a weighty counter to the often intractable Rumsfeld.

His credentials include the organization of Batallion 316 in Honduras where he was our ambassador during the Reagan era.

If Californians were really serious about controlling their illegal immigration issue they could have asked for his help while he had no official assignments.

The citizens of The Great People's Republic of Kalifornia are serious, the elected officials are not.

wow thats real impressive. reagan was senile the day he took the oath, and he just went downhill from there. all that nonsense when he died about what a great president he was, give me a break.

Sorry if I offend but, I am not seeing these Bush choices as being good. Most of the "leaders, cabinet members and our elected officials" seem ready for the nursing home and retirement. Give them a gold watch, a fishing pole and a push.

Sir William,

I do not see things that way at all. President Bush's appointees are not flashy and showy, but they seem to be seasoned, qualified managers.

To be fair, we're going to have to wait and see how things work, aren't we? This 'Intel Czar' thing is brand new. We know, sort of and on paper, how this is supposed to work, but it's never been done, has it?

Dept of Homeland Security just changed bosses. Another case of 'Just how is this supposed to work, again?' It's not doing badly, but it is obvious there is still more to be - uh - 'fine tuned'?

TSA, the boarding gate guards, are hampered more by 'regulations' written by nitwit bureaucrats than the (lack of) qualification and experience on the part of the actual troops.

And for all those folks who deep in their hearts really don't like President Bush. We could have had Al 'Internet' Gore as president. What a horror story that would have been!

Can't entirely disagree with that but Negroponte's very significant intel experience from South American and South East Asian operations makes him a most valuable asset.

Did you watch him during his confirmation hearing for the Iraq ambassadorship? He has the Cheney-type gravitas and the agency chiefs will not dare fool with him.
