I'm about to purchase a Handi-rifle in .223 and was wondering if any special break in is required for for the barrel. Thanks.

Well, I would suggest looking in the TFL and AR15.com FAQ's.

Seems these guys know their stuff.

I have heard that if the trigger is worked on, the gun can be amazingly accurate.

The accuracy of a gun in intrinsic, good triggers make it easier for us to utilize the potential.

With that single, heavy, fixed barrel, and heavy hammer spring (=fast locktime) the rifle ought to be able to shoot 3-shot one ragged hole groups at 100yds.

That is, if you find a support system that minimally and consistently affects the barrel (and vibration pattern).

I'd be interested to hear your results once you've had some trigger time.

(Heck, for a couple hundred sans scope I may just get one myself.)

BTW, what's the twist rate?

Took it to the range and did nothing to it but put it on my Bull bag and zeroed it in. I got the best results (MOA)with Remington hunting ammo. I have a case of PMC 55 grain that I'm trying to finish off and gave me some wider groups but not by much. I also had some Russian 62 grain that my Contender can not handle and that gave me over 3" groups. There was someone two spots down from me on the range that was firing his for the first time also and was getting MOA results with Wichester ammo. There has been a lot of discussion on this rifle over at www.shooters.com in the Single Shot forum.
