NEF/H&R Suggestions

I've received a survey from NEF/H&R. Do any of you have suggestions for product improvements, new products, additional calibers, etc. you'd like to see them make?

Yes. I'd like them to make a .223 pistol based on their standard action.

I would also like them to make a .223 rifle with synthetic stock, shell carrier, hooded front sight post, and deep muzzle crown.

That's it. I like their offerings already.

TurkeySlayer, NEF already offers a 16ga., but I just see it in their "Standard Pardner" with a 28" full choke barrel.

They can install that same 16 ga. 28" barrel on any SB-1 or SB-2 for $35 plus shipping and handling.

I would like to see them add a 22" 16 ga. with modified choke. But, they may not be eager to add a lot of different models and barrels for the 16ga. Although a great gauge, it's just not a big seller in the USA.

I would love to see a double barrel 12ga. from NEF/H&R. A side-by-side with twin hammers would be just the ticket for a home defense shotgun to be left loaded for the wife.

How about a standard receiver that will take anything from .22 LR to .338 win mag. As it is now, you have to carefully plan which rifle you buy based on what calibers you may need/want in the future.

I bought the SB-2 in .30-06 and can only get 22hornet, .223, 30-30, 45-70, .357, .44, plus 12ga. through .410

7.62x39

They should offer the Handi Rifle in 7.62x39. This would make an excellent youth rifle and would be an extremely economic way to teach someone to shoot a centerfire.

I agree with nedfig on the standard receiver. I also agree with Shin-tao on the handgun, but I'd go further ... I'd like to see a whole line of single-shot handguns chambered for hunting cartridges and some standard pistol cartridges to boot (like .44 Mag, .357 Mag, .357 Max, .45 Colt, .22 LR ... you get the idea).

I would like to see a take down carbine version in the synthetic stock with say .22, .223, .308, and 12 ga. with 18" bbls for all( the min. legal req.)with the shotgun having the full/mod/cyl. standard choke tubes. Sell it as a set in a hard case with enough room for a scope, say 12"x20"x6". They could do all this for under $400 the way I see it. MWT

Another vote for a TC style single shot series of pistols, from 22 on up. Supoosedly Rossi was going to market something like this. There was a review in one of the gun rags a while back and I have not seen anything more on it. If H&R could market an inexpensive and accurate series of these Handipistols I think they would sell.

Three things: the trigger, the trigger , and the trigger.

Not that it is the worst trigger on the market, but the gun is a potential tack driver that could easily embarrass folks with outfits costing several times more, but it just doesn't live up to its potential off the sandbags.

A target model with a long heavy barrel and a little trigger work would be in my cabinet tomorrow.

My ideal shotgun model would be a 20ga (2 3/4 & mags) with cyl/mod/full/rifled choke tube. That would cover everything from clays and small criters to serious hunting.

I got the same survey.

I would like to get spare barrels off the shelf, like Thompson. NEF want the reciver shipped back to the factory.

I also hope they get a decent web site, now that Marlin bought them.

These people want $198

Thanks to everyone that responded with imput!

I'm going to suggest the following to NEF:

1. Set up a REAL web site that shows products, describes services, and answers FAQs.

2. Lighter trigger, trigger, trigger on the Handi! I know they can improve this feature, but they may be reluctant to do so for liability reasons... unless requested by owner.

3. New caliber offerings for the Handi: The 7.62x39 would be excellent, but they may be reluctant to go to this chambering because they would have to produce a .311" barrel capable of using the cheapest military crap on the market. I'm sure those laquered steel cases would also play hell on ejection!

They already produce a .45 Colt/.410 combo barrel. It might not be that difficult for them to produce a barrel for use with .45 Colt only. It would surely provide better accuracy than the combo barrel.

H&R offers the .450 Marlin in their Ultra Rifle. Will this soon be an option in the NEF Handi?

.444 Marlin, .357 Maximum ..... good calibers, but not hot sellers. And many Handi owners just have their local gunsmiths ream out their .44 mag or .357 mag barrels to chamber these calibers.

I'd like to see the .260 Rem. and the 6.5x55 Swede added.

Belted magnum calibers? I don't think they'll go there. The SB-2 action is pretty strong.....but!!!

5. Rimfire barrels? Man, that would be great, but it may be difficult to get with their transfer bar feature.

6. Choke tube barrels in 22" barrels. I would love these in 12ga. and 20 ga.! I don't know if I'd want to see barrels much shorter than this. The 22" model is pretty handy and compact already.

7. Pistol versions? I don't think this is going to happen due to liability. Some idiot is sure to make a "whippet" out of a pistol gripped gun. They still might do it with existing models, but at least they have to make a concerted effort to break the law by modifying the existing stock. They can't claim they "didn't know" what they were doing was illegal..... making the company liable.

8. Double barrel w/exposed hammer? Doubles are EXPENSIVE to produce. And they would be competing with companies like Rossi who already have the market cornered on this type of arm.

YOUR THOUGHTS??? COMMENTS??

Regards! DaMan
