Need Wood Stock Advice,shorter Lenght Of Pull.

After lots of reading on this boards I finally settled on an 870P with wood stock,I love the look of wood on a shotgun,the problem is that the leght of pull is a bit too long for me,I'm aware that I can buy a shorter plastic stock but remington does not make one in wood.I dont want to butcher the gun any work I have done to it has to look as if it wasn't done,that is unless somebody out there makes a shorter wood stock for it ,any leads,suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Most gunsmiths and any stock maker can shorten your buttstock and grind the recoil pad to fit the end of the stock. This should run you less than the cost of a new shorter stock. I would not expect to pay more than $70 plus about $30 for a new pad if you need one.

As usual, Chuck nailed it. And, after market and used stocks are plentiful, there may be one nearby for a pittance that'll fit better.

I've had a couple of stocks shortened by a local smith. Cost is reasonable.

Let us know where you are and perhaps someone can recommend a local shop.

FWIW, George Stringer (moderator in the Smithy Forum) does good work and is a quick trip to the post office away. (well, FEDX if you ship the reciever too)

Thanks Gizmo,I'm in the South Florida ,Miami area ,renowned for not having decent gunsmiths,everytime I have to have something done and I go to the locals the response is always "we dont do that"
