I posted this on the 1911 forum but then thought this might be a good place to also ask.
I started shooting again two months ago after a 25 year absence and for my first new gun I purchased a Kimber Custom CDP II. I enjoy this gun but like most gun lovers I also wanted to get something else so the other day I purchased a used Sig P220. The P220 is a nice gun but I'm not sure yet about how much I like it. When I was showing it to my next door neighbor who is a LEO I mentioned to him I may not keep it. Tonight he stopped by and asked if I wanted to trade the Sig for his Colt MK IV Series 80 Lightweight Commander.
The Sig appears to be a well worn former LEO weapon but works perfectly and I have only one magazine for it. His Colt has a stainless slide with three sets of grips and 7 magazines of various quality. My Kimber is a very tightly made weapon with just a bit of grit on the trigger pull and his Colt is loose as a goose. The slide rattles quite a bit (a little less so if the gun is cocked) and the trigger also rattles but pulls smoothly and releases smoothly but less abruptly than my Kimber. The Colt appears to have had very little use.
I going to take the Sig and Colt to the range tomorrow to compare.
So, is this a good trade or not?
