Need some help w/ M-14 sling....

Thanks, but thats for the leather 1907 type. Mine is the simple green web type, which was standard issue. It has a steel hook on it that I know goes on the rear swivel, but I dont know how to attach it from there.

If you're planning to use the sling for position work, I'd suggest putting it on backwards. Run the long part of the sling through the rear, and put the steel hook on at the front. When you go to position shooting, remove the entire sling, and put your left arm (asssuming you're right handed) through the loop (with half outboard twist in the sling), tighten it to the outside of your arm, then hook the steel hook up front. Get in position, swing your arm around the sling and put your hand up at the sling swivel, and roll the rifle into place (pushing forward on the buttstock). IF it's not hard to do, it's too loose, if it's really impossible, then it's a little too tight.

Normal sling installation for the M14 is the same as for the M1 rifle. Hook the rear end into the butt swivel, hook in, smooth side out. Then pass the other end (with the steel tip) through the front swivel from the outside in toward the stock. Bring it down and insert it into the keeper. Keeping the webbing under the side tabs, raise the keeper lock and slide the sling tip through. Close the keeper lock to hold the sling in place.

Now, turn the rifle so you are looking at the bottom. You should see the flat side of the rear hook, and the flat side of the keeper. Both swivels should be almost hidden by the hook and the sling.

Thanks, I got it on ok. I did have a 1907 style, but I feel this sling looks much more authentic for a standard M1A. Thanks again for the help.
