I've been searching the net to find an exploded view of the old single action .380 amt backup. Basically looking for a pic of it after it has been detail stripped or at least one showing all the parts. Any pics of a backup would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Bob,
I have a paper copy of a drawn schematic, along with a parts list, from March of 1975. If you can't find one on line, E-mail me your address, and I'll send you a hard copy by snail mail.

Gus, thanks for your offer, if I dont find anything online, I may take you up on it! If anyone has even a good quality picture of an old single action AMT backup that would be helpfull. Come on guys... you are the experts. Surely someone has an online picture, schematic, or exploded view of an old backup?? Thanks again for any help!

Bob-

I have two SA Backups, one marked AMT and another marked OMC. What part of the gun, specifically, are you interested in?

I carried one, chamber loaded, as a backup for years, until I heard of an accident where a Backup fired while in a jacket pocket, and the jacket was hanging on a peg. Supposedly, there was a great temperature differential between outside and inside. The gradual warming of the gun allowed the sear to slip and the striker to fire the gun.

I believe the grip safety only stops the trigger movement, doesn't lock the sear. I haven't carried either one in many years.

Gunparts has schematics and drawings for most guns, including the AMT. They charge a buck or two and will email them to you, that might be an option if you don't find it free.

Thanks for replys

I'm actually looking for a good schematic or picture to use in a power point presentation I am putting together on that particular gun. I might have to make my own slide using a picture and label it myself. So if anyone has a good graphic or picture of the AMT I would appreciate it. I need to be able to explain how the grip safety works to a group of non gun folks. Thanks again.

Products Liability suit???

Sinecure, please give me a little credit. A true gun supporter would never get involved in a products liability suit involving a firearm. Unless I was representing AMT or it successors. But you were close however, its a criminal investigation. Unfortunatley, can't give out any details. But still looking for that perfect picture on an AMT backup!

Bob--

No slight intended there, Bob, but I don't actually know what your feelings are about anything.
