I am selling a handgun to someone out of state. I have done this with a rifle before and all I needed was an inked copy of the buyers FFL and I was able to ship it to his FFL. Does it work the same way with handguns, or do I have to get my FFL to ship it? Also aren't there some kind of extra shipping fees tacked on to handguns? How much will it cost to ship? Thanks in advance for any replies.

I believe it has to be shipped from FFL to FFL. I don't know of any charges or taxes that you might aquire. Actually.. I don't think there are any.. but I'm not familiar with the process, so I don't know what to tell you. You can run it by your local FFL for details I'm sure.

You don't have to send it from an FFL holder just to one, unless your state has any laws requiring otherwise. Fedex and UPS will make you ship next day air. They do not allow ground shipment for handguns.

For everyone's information, I read a thread (on TFL?) last week that said FedEx Three Day Ground was now accepting handguns. I presume that's significantly less expensive than their overnight air.
