Need Recommendation for Gunsmith (Hi Power)

I have a Browning Belgium Hi Power 9mm. I inherited this gun recently (its in decent shape but needs some TLC) and would like to have some custom work preformed: textured front & back straps, trigger work, no-bite hammer, bevel mag-well, new sights, new finish, etc. I intend to use this firearm for CCW, IDPA, and possibly USPSA. Could some of you give me some recommendations of gunsmiths that specialize in Hi Powers.

Thanks,

T

The best Browning High Powers I have seen have come from Don Williams of the Action Works. I have seen and handled several of his both at his shop and a couple at the Shot Show. If you search the LTW forum site and his site you will find pictures of some of this Browning HPs.

If you dont use us :), then C&S.....

One thing I hate btw is textured front and backstraps. I prefer deep hand engraving...

Dear Sir:
Kurt Wickman in Athens, Ohio is excellent and I would trust him totally.
Kurt used to work for Novaks 45 shot and is one of the best Hi-Power men in the world.

I have seen no one listed I would recommend against, except maybe for the people in alaska......:D just kidding. Look at the websites, see who seems to be doing the kind of work you want. but again I would send my gun to any of the guys listed here. (And I have sent to browns and C&S and Ahlmanns) Ahlmanns does not do the fancy web page. But for years they were brownings No1 repair shop in the US.

JIC someone actually uses the 'Search' function...

Posted a tad late, but for those that live in the Keystone State (or nearby, neighbor!)...

Jim Gartwaithe near Williamsport, PA is an outstanding Browning HP 'smith. Had him do a trigger job on my BHP 9mm that I'll be using in IDPA competition, and it is absolutely outstanding work. If it's not right, he'll make it right.

http://www.garthwaite.com/BrwoningHiPower.htm for info on his work....(yes, that's the link - Browning is misspelled, but it's copied direct from the browser!):D
