Need opinions/info on old model ruger single six

I just obtained an older model 22cal. Ruger single six with the LR/Mag Cylinders. It has the target adjustable sites and some very real looking imitation stag scales. I love the flat top frame and the smooth crisp trigger.I understand that Ruger will upgrade this pistol to the new style trigger configuration, If I were to send it in, But I was wondering if that would detract from the collector value of this revolver? I also was wondering if the trigger would be as smooth when I got it back? Are the older models more or less valuable than the newer ones?

The Ruger conversion is free and will reduce the collector value of the gun. I believe they still return all your old parts. You make mention of concern for the trigger action, before/after safety conversion. I have to ask, are you going to save as a collector, or use it as a shooter.

I'd also recommend you check out the Collectable page on the "Ruger Forum",
you may be better served asking your question there.

Thanks for the info. I am mainly going to use this one for a little plinking.I have a couple of other 22's, Including a MkII target Gov. model, That would see the most use. I know I haven't seen one of these flat tops before, And I was just curious if it would be better to just preserve the original condition, Or return it for the safety upgrade? Thanks -
