Hey fellas, I was hoping someone could help me out here with some load data. The old 150 grn LRN is the bullet I use, (I also load old bp .38 S & W with the same bullet), but have not been able to find published load data for this weight. The only powder I have (smokeless that is) is Unique. I believe for a 158 grn LRN, most folks use between 4.7-5 grns of Unique, and that would probably be ok for the 150 grn, but looking for some input from some of you more seasoned reloaders. Thanks!

5.2 gr of Unique is my maximum with a 158 gr lswc. in 38 special.

Alliant data for 38+P lists the 5.2 gr loading as maximum with a Speer 158 gr bullet.

Lyman shows a 125 grain RF nose bullet with 5.3 grains of Unique as maximum, and a 160 grain round nose with 4.7 grains as maximum. Figure your 150 is probably going to land at around 4.8 to 4.9 grains if we extrapolate that. But, depending on seating depth, it could be more. I think 5.3 grains will be +P, at least in some guns.

Old copy of Lyman 45th Edition reflects 150 grain cast bullet #358430 #2 Alloy. Unique Powder Start 3.5 grains Maximum 5.5 grains. Firearm used was a S&W Model 14 6" barrel. That may or may not be of some help to you. With a 150 grain wad cutter (Linotype) in the Lyman 49th Edition they reflect a Maximum of around 4.7 grains. I would start low and see what you get.

Cast 148 grain data is close enough. Two grains will not matter. Or 158 grain data. Cast bullets are pretty for giving since they're not going terribly fast or at high pressures.
