I recently cut a package deal on an AR upper that included a "Redfield 3x9 scope". The price for the package wasn't bad so I figured, not being much of a Redfield fan, I would dump the scope for whatever I could get out of it.
Well, to my surprise, I actually like this Redfield. Most of their scopes disappointed me - lack of sharpness, brightness, etc - but this one is very bright, extremely sharp and has a very unique reticle.
So far I have been able to find out that this model is the LE-9, a tactical sniper scope (never even knew Redfield did one), 3-9x50mm with target knobs, all flat black including all markings and numbers. I have the paper that Redfield supplied explaining how to use the rangefinding capabilities of the reticle.
Does anyone know more about this scope? I've been told (by one of the folks at SWFA) it was produced less than a year and is fairly rare. Apparently it didn't sell well among Military and Police circles due to the (non-mil-dot) proprietary reticle. I was also told it was one of the finest scopes Redfield ever produced. Looking for independent confirmation of these statements and estimated value of this scope (doubt it will be sold if it's at all rare since I have a "thing" for unique items). I'm also looking for replacement knob covers, these are missing (I know, fat chance).
Any info appreciated...
