hehe...the Megastar didn't hold up too well to the 10mm? naw, the Megastar is a very big and ROBUST (saying it nicely) handgun. this is a hefty piece of steel. the Megastar has 3 locking lugs and has an inverted slide. the lock up has both a kideny style and swinging link system which is quite "large" in porportion to the ammo it shoots. i think the 10mm Megastars will last forever with proper care since they were designed to shoot full house 10mm all the time. if u find one in .45ACP, then that gun will last forever and day!!! hehe...
there were two specific models available, one for 10mm (which has more metal and slightly wider slide) and the .45ACP which has a slimmer slide and less weight. i think the Megastar .45ACP only holds 12 rounds. the 10mm holds 14.
it is a wide gun...maybe wider than my G20 in some respects. it is a DA/SA gun with an odd safety. the safety does not drop the hammer, but retracts and locks the firing pin. to lower the hammer, u have to pull the trigger while the safety is on. not to my liking, but it works...but i don't like using it. the gun could be carried cocked and locked, but i don't recommend this. the safety is on the slide. my 10mm Megastar's DA pull is quite long but smooth. the single action has some light take up, but has a crisp let off. it is very close to my S&W 10mm semiauto pulls, but smoother.
it came in two finishes...blued and Starvel (looks like nickle).
this is an excellent gun in my opinion and u will have a hard time wearing it out with good 10mm ammo...a steady diet of fullhouse 10mm is what it was designed to shoot.
this gun has to be one of the biggest 10mms out there...the LAR Grizzley comes close too, but the Grizzley is thinner.
