My father gave me a navy arms 1862 reb conf. army 44 cal. revolver. was wondering if there is any sites with info on this gun. also i am interested in a conversion cylinder if one is made for it or if another brand will work any info is greatly appreciated thanks cory

Colt made (steel frames) the 1860 Army in .44 caliber
1861 Navy in .36 caliber
1862 Pocket Police and Pocket Navy in .36 caliber.

Is it a brass framed gun?
Are there any markings on the frame (Roman numerals, letters) or on the barrel (Pietta, made in Italy)?

If it's brass framed, it wouldnt be a good idea to put in a conversion cylinder. The brass does not stand up as strong as steel.
