Need Help

After many many tries to find out which eye is dominate, I think I've found out my left is the dominate one. I'm a right hander. I have a problem shooting my Glock without closing my left eye. If I shoot with both eyes open and focus on the front sight, I see two rear sights! I don't know which to choose! Can someone help?

Lavan,

That's good for the shooting range, but it's not practical outside of that. I want to practice how I would shoot normally. I can shoot great with one eye closed. I'm trying to be a reserve police officer so I need my other eye open to see everything. I also know that having both eyes open is proper.

I guess the easiest solution would be to change your stance. If you shoot sideways to your left, you should be able to use your left eye to aim. I know the military makes you stand square to the target, so it may not work for quals, but in real life, it should be better over all. Smaller target area, etc...

Mississippi,

What Andrewh was getting at is you should learn the Weaver Stance (known in some law enforcement training circles as the interview position). Stand with you weak hand side (left if I understood your post) closer to the target. Your left arm will be bent more than your right. This puts you head at an angle and allows your to sight with your left eye. Consistant practice will make this second nature and still give you the depth perception and field of view of stereoscopic vision (two eyes).

Hope that helps!
