need help

i went to a store to buy a couple of shotguns for me and my son to shoot skeet and when i filled out the info on the form the guy made a phone call and came back in a couple of minutes and told me i was DELAYED and couldnt purchase them, he said to call back tuesday or wed. and check then i have never owned a gun in my life what is the deal??

Your name is probably similar, or identical to someone who is barred from owning firearms. If you have a fairly common name, it happens all the time. But I thought they could delay you no longer than 1 day without a reason. If you have ever been charged with a felony, you can no longer own firearms either.

Since you say you have never owned a gun, then you might not have realized all the legal situations that can come about with a stupid govt. NICS check. Hope everything clears up for you.
 
I've been delayed 3 times out of the last 6 after 33+ years of buying guns. The good news is that the longest delay was less than 2 hours. There can't be much of any real interest in my file because I recently renewed my carry permit.

Of course, some of them could be the result of my timing. For example, the last delay was at 3 p.m. on the day before Thanksgiving. They must have holiday staffing problems just like everybody else.

I have had a delay every time I buy a gun, I just have the store call me when it clears. With a common name like Williams, I am sure there are a couple of "felons" out there with that name too. I don't like it, I have no recourse but to accept it.
 
And you guys think you have problems.

With a name like this, you would think I would be delayed or refused, but so far, no problems. (Sheesh, I shouldn't have said anything.)
Go figure.
Of course, in California, we have to wait for everything, so maybe that's the reason.

Your'e in prison or was you put to death i can't remember what you was sentenced to ? That was a little before my time!:D :D You wouldn't want to sell that 44. would you?
