Need help with Winchester 88 Magazine

What do I do with a Winchester Model 88 magazine that will not hold the second round properly?

The front of the round is tilted up and the rear of the round will not go under the back of the left lip.

The entire second round is pushed towards the middle of the magazine and pops out at the slightest touch.

It is not safe to use.

Is the follower "squared up and pushed back" to begin with? check that magazine up against another that works fine, if you can locate one.

Had alot of this issue with my Saiga, I did a good greaseup and bent the tops in slightly on the action side. Worked for me but it's really hard to pinpoint without having it in front of me.

Are you sure this is a M88 magazine and not a M100?

Unload the magazine and look at the follower from the top. Does it say M100 or M88?

Sometimes the spring looses it's ability to spring back. If you remove the second round will the rest of the rounds in the magazine cycle?

Oh, the front of the magazine should have .243 and .308 marked on it.

That does not look like a factory magazine... what does it look like from the bottom?

The pictured magazine went to a gunsmith that does a lot of work on 88's, and is still there.

I purchased an aftermarket magazine that works fine.
