Need help with Taurus 44 mag cylinder

The cylinder rod on my 44 Taurus mag is sticking so much so that I have to push the star back into the cylinder. I suspect gunk in the spring area, but have not been able to figure out how to take the cylinder apart. I know Taurus will fix it for free, but I read that they are very slow. I can spray clean down the rod and that seems to help some, but it's not too long before it is stiff again. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

The cylinder crane comes out the same way as on the S&W, just remove the front sideplate screw and pull the crane forward (be careful not to lose the cylinder stop spring and plunger in the lower part of the crane). Then the cylinder can be pulled backward off the crane. Use a good spray cleaner (I like G96 Gun Treatment as it does not gum up like WD-40). Do NOT remove the extractor rod and extractor from the cylinder; there is no need to do so and you can mess things up.
