Need help with research

I came across a quote a few months ago from an anti-gun site (I think it was HCI, but now I can't find the quote on their web page).

The quote was: "Self-defense is no excuse to own a handgun".

Can anyone document where that quote came from?

I know Australia's government also used that quote when they confiscated the firearms of their citizens. But I'm looking for the American version of the quote.

Any help would be appreciated.

You had that your self in your book...
A case were you mention that a Permit was denide - and the applicant was killed days later. Reason for refusal was that quote.

George, you're right. That was a spokesperson for the Denver Police department. But I'm sure I saw a similar quote on the HCI homepage a few months ago. Either they recognized the absurdity of such a statement and removed it, or else I'm getting dyslexia and am unable to see straight.
