Need Help with my 92FS

I posted this on the wrong forum so I will try here.

I have a Beretta 92fs that I have had for several years. I took it out and it got real wet last week so I took the grips off to clean under them. Now the hammer will not drop unless you pull the trigger real hard. When I take the slide off it works perfect. Any ideas? I assumed I had the tension on the grip screws wrong but I have messed with it for about an hour now with no results.

You need to take the complete pistol apart as far as you can get it and clean and lube it extremely well in every concievable area. Take the slide off, take the grips off, take it as far apart as you feel comfortable doing. You may have gotten some quick oxidation from the water, or the water may have carried some gunk into tight places that cause your problem.
