Hi fellas, need some help with a winchester mod 52D 22lr. If someone out there
has ever owned one, or know of somebody that owns one. Here's my problem.
I just recently came into possesion of a 52D. This is a single shot (no magazine) 22lr. I read the instructions on how to remove the bolt. I followed
the procedure and the bolt came out like gangbusters. Here lies the problem.
I thought, you just reverse the removal procedure and bingo, bolt is back in place. Boy, was I wrong. The bolt is in the receiver......but you can't close the bolt all the way and you can not get the bolt to come out. ANYONE out
there ever had this to happen??? All help and suggestions appreciated.

Where are you located? Just curious because I shoot in a league full of these guns, and to be honest I just don't see them elsewhere. Anyway, I don't own one, but about 50% of my team does. If you want me to, I will call one of them and find out for you. I have seen them all do some tricky things to those bolts to get them in and out. Does yours have the original trigger or a Kanjar? Scope or irons? PM me if you want my email or phone.

It sounds like you uncocked the bolt. If it is partly in the receiver, just lift up on the bolt handle and see if you can cock it that way. Or, if you can get it out, grab the front of the bolt with the left hand and turn the back of the bolt (and bolt handle) counter-clockwise to cock it.

On some of those guns you have to pull the trigger really hard to release the bolt; not a great system, but it worked find for a lot of years.

52D problem

Thanks fellas for your input on this rifle. I took it to a friend, who retired from the gun business ( sporting goods) Between the two of us, we got the bolt out and I seen my mistake. Anyway, thanks a bunch :D
