Need help with gun control paper.

I'm writing a paper on gun control, and since I live in a town whose library hasn't added a new book since pre-1968 My sources aside from the internet are pretty limited. Here's what I need:

The year the AR-15 was first offered for sale on the civilian market, and the list price for them. I figure anyone who saves the blue book, or gun digest could find this. I also need to know what book it came from.

The names and dates of gun control legislation from 1968 to present. I can even use Executive orders, and to a lesser degree ATF rulings since they have the effect of law. I really appreciate any assistance I can get from this.
The summary could be that we keep passing gun control laws, and they violate the notion of innocent until proven guilty. They restrict the rights of the lawful citizenry, and serve to make the lawful abide by the standards of the unlawful. I am throwing in there small hints of hypocracy when I find good places in the paper to introduce it. Thanks in advance!

kjm,

A good cite is www.guncite.com

A study was recently done that showed the affect of the 1994 AW ban on crime. It was barely noticebly as AW's are rarely the criminal's weapon of choice.

Also, more recently, a study came out showing that the Brady Law has done NOTHING to lower crime. It was a Journal of American Medical Association. The study said it did lower the number of gun suicides among men 50+; however, the number was almost 100% made up with weapon substitution (ie Pills, gas etc...)

Guncite.com is a good place to start. Also, there is a list of gun facts with footnoted sources at www.keepandbeararms.com/images/gunfacts.pdf (you need Adobe Acrobat Reader. Its free for downloading if you don't have it already) I may have the source of the AW study. Page 10 has many cited facts.

2-3% of crimes are with AW's
Between 1980-94 only 2% of confiscated weapons were AW's

the AR-15 was offered for civilian sale as early as 1965--I may have an article in G&A from that era. It was about $150, IIRC. I'll try to confirm.

PLEASE email me daggers@indy.net
I have TONS of references to destroy, burn and bury ANY argument your opponent tries to use. They'll sit there, jaws flapping, looking stupid. Did it at First Monday last week.
