I have a Remington Model 341A, but I can not figure out tha age or date it was made. The barrel markings are: U W E or U W F

Does anybody know how to date these markings. The E or F is not stamped clearly so It could be a P. 129458 is located on the barrel also. I know that only 131000 or so were made but I would just like to know more about this great little rifle. Thanks

Thanks, but need more info on markings

I know alot already about the 341 just not it's markings. C.C. Loomis designed the rifle and Remington offered the rifle in these grades 341P, 341PT, 341A, 341AT. I just can't figure out the barrel markings. I thank you for your time and answers.

Year, month, day markings

A friend told me Remigton used letters on the barrel for the year, month, and day of manufacture. The letter U would be 1927, W would be the month of August. This can't be right becausw the 341 was only made from 1936-1940. 1936 through 1940 the letters were E,F,G,H,J. So what do my markings mean. Thanks

The markings you need are on the left side of the brl. As you're holding the gun. Write the words BLACK POWDER X then number the letters 1 to 12. that's how the Blue Book describes the Remington Code. I hope this helps.

Still need to know

The markings are on the left side of the barrel. And I have already checked the blue book. But the letters on the barrel don't match what the blue book shows. Inspection markings are not stamped with such uniformity. The U is over the W and E or F or P which ever one it is. They form a triangle at the base of the Barrel on the left side of the barrel. The serial number is located about a foot up the barrel on the lower left side of the barrel. Any clues? Thanks.
