bought a bunch of ammo from a guy and there were several of these 12 gauge shells in the mess. no maker ID. appears to have some cloth wrapped around the load???
I recently purchased one hundred 12 gauge primed paper "Cheddite" shotshells from BPI. I believe they were probably made by Fiocchi. I don't know if BPI buys directly from Fiocchi or not. Last I heard, the only importer of Cheddite hulls was Graf & Son. Anyway, the headstamp on the shells I bought from BPI are exactly like the one shown in your photo, with four stars and four 12's, but I realize now as I look at this hyperlink photo myself, that the primers are different on the one in the BPI ad from the primers on the hulls they sent to me. I'm not complaining; the primers on mine look like Winchester 209 shotshell primers; i.e., the outer rim is a steel or aluminum color and the inner (center) part is a brass color which is exactly opposite from what BPI shows in its advertisement photo. The primers on mine are also different from the primer in your photo, although the headstamps are exactly the same. See hyperlink below for photo of what I bought from bpi - except for the different primer.
While they appear to be bean bag loads, the hulls appear to be Cheddites. Cheddite makes hulls for many ammo makers and reloaders. Interesting concept for LTL applications
