I picked up a French MAS dated 1936 and it is in great condition. The bore is nice and the bluing is excelent, aparently an arsenal rebuild. I have a problem with the stock though. The wood of the forward hand guard is a beautiful red color but the butstock is not good. It appears to have some serious water marks. None of the but stock is the same red color. I have sanded and smoothed it out nicely but am looking for some way of returning it to the original red color. I am hoping that someone has encountered this same problem and has something to add. Oh, I have just loaded up some 7.5 shaped from 6.5 Swedish and am going to give it a try this Saturday. Wish me luck!
