I'm trying to decide which one to purchase. i have a variety of choices:

viridian x5l
surefirex300
insight tech m6x
insight tech m6
insight m3 or m3x
foxfury awl-p laser tac
streamlight tlr2 or tlr1

any ideas?

also.....
I definitely want my pistol to be equipped with a laser and light. just not sure if i should buy a laser/light combo or a crimontrace laser grip and then a light seperate.

None of the above?

Train to shoot your handgun with one hand and use a light in the other. If you REALLY want you can use a flashlight with a built in laser so you can put a little red dot on their chest while you're identifying them.

well i can say that i am more than efficient shooting both strong side and weak side one handed based on my qualification through the department i work for. I was not asking for reasons to not get any of these items , i was asking which one does everyone prefer over another.

my previous firearm i used was a department issued glock 22 with a crimsontrace backstrap and streamlight tlr1. We no longer have them and now we have smith and wesson m&p pistols.

I will probably with a S&W special op knife first before a flash light.
Unless you have special training, you are more than likely to give up your tactical advantages by having a bright target on your hand; lets along the reduction of agility of losing on hand to the flash light itself.

Get a set of night sight, they are pretty darn amazing:cool:

PS. In the mean time, use your smart phone for lighting lol

Just my 2cents :D

I purchased the Veridian C5L for our Sig P229 and P220 after comparing to the X5L. The light is just as intense to my eye even though the lumen rating on the X5 is greater and only slightly smaller in diameter....everything else is the same. The C5 is also compact and fits neatly under the frame with virtually no overhang or extension beyond the barrel.

With the M&P personally I would go with the CT grips and then choose a light. Thats how I had my M&P set up (CT grips & micro90 light). I've had the TLR-1, surefire x300, and the smith and Wesson micro90 light. I like that with the S&W light you can just poke the buttons on the back to use the momentary on and that you can find it around 55 bucks. The surefire is the same way, you can poke the toggle switch to trigger the momentary which is nice and easy, its extremely bright and seems to produce a much whiter light than my TLR-1 but it is hard to justify double the cost unless you can find a really good deal. With the CT grips installed if you practice you can still get a firm grip and only activate the laser when you want to by adjusting the pressure of your grip, hard to explain but easy to do. Sorry if this is kinda rambling and hope it helps.

Surefire, Streamlight and Insight are all good brands.

My current Streamlight TLR-1s is excellent, well-built and very bright. I liked my Insight M3 also , still have it, but the TLR is much brighter.

I find mounting the light on the gun to be a HUGE advantage. VERY awkward to search and shoot with the flashlight in the support hand.

This is being discussed in the tactics forum, but I'll ask you here. If you have one hand on the gun, and one hand on a flashlight, how exactly will you hold a phone and dial 911?

I have the TRL on one of my weapons and I love it.
