Its getting near that time for me to buy my next gun. I have narrowed my choices down to the following 45 caliber handguns. Help me decide on which of these is the best in quality, fit, finish, accuracy, etc....

Kimber, and I was a Colt man till 1999, 6 Kimbers now. 0 colts.

However, you should always buy what feels best to you.

Kimber Pro Carry. The Ultra Ten is too fat IMO for a good carry gun. The Defenders are too much of a mixed bag. I know three people who had one. One liked it, the other two complained about every type of jam under the sun.

Using those criteria and in that order, go with the one that looks the prettiest to you.

Crank in reliability..........then go for Sig 220. Or Glock. Which ever works best for you.

You didn't say what you wanted to use it for.

From the choises, I assume the purpose is concealed carry. I carry a Kimber Pro and have nothing but good things to say about it.

kimber all the way. I once had a colt goldcup that never shot worth a dang.ended up trading it off.I now own a kimber that shoots great & functions flawlessly right out of the box.

As compact M1911A1 clones have never been known for being very reliable, or very accurate, IMHO if you aren't going to try shooting the SIG P220 and P245, it doesn't matter which one you chose!

The Kimber Pro Carry makes a lot of sense. I just recently bought a Series I Pro Carry SLE. Stainless slide and frame, 4in barrel and full length grip. Frame to slide fit was tight. Skeletonized hammer, light weight trigger, lowered ejection port and barrel/feedramp polished for Hollowpoints straight from the factory.

It makes a very nice carry gun. Fit and finish was great and no series II grip safety to worry about. I've heard a more than a few negative reports or opinions about the series II safeties. There still some Series 1 types available if you look around.

I just don't like going below a 3.5 in barrel in a .45 because of velocity loss, so that put out a lot of the ultra compact .45's for me when I was on the market for one.

With McCormick 8rd Mags plus +1 in the chamber I have nine rounds of ultra potent .45. That makes me a happy camper.

And accuracy?....Most accurate I have ever owned. It even outshoots the G30 I used to have.

I already have a Sig 229, and three Glocks. I am in the mood to try something different, so Sigs and Glocks are out of the question at this point..... I already know my next gun delima though. A Sig 220, or Glock 30.... Anyways, that will be a different thread all together. :)

This next Colt or Kimber will be carried some, and will be a fun gun at the range. Alot of times I just buy guns for no reason, and this is sort of one of those times. Just wanted something different.....

Keep the input comming in. I find it helpful.

I'm surprised no one else has said this but stay away from the Ultra Ten, a polymer 1911 type gun is sacrilegious. The Pro Carry may be the way to go if you can find a Series I. From all the bad experiences I've heard about the Series II I would probably get the Colt before the Series II (though if it was me and I couldn't find a leftover Series I I'd get a Springfield over the Colt).

Kimber Pro

I have always like Kimber's guns, and I would want a longer barrel because it help control recoil which make me more accurate. Or so it seems to me.
