Need Help Obtaining a USP Part

Kestrel

New member
I purchased two HK USP45s (a full size and a compact) after hearing that I could change out the lockout device with a non-lockout device.

Can anyone tell me a source for ordering these? HK says they won't sell them.

(And please - I know you can leave it unlocked - I don't want the part in the gun.)

Thanks,
Steve

Try the webmaster at hkpro.com or Larry at ccfa.com. Perhaps even a post at the hkpro.com forum or park cities tactical might lead you in the right direction. Not that this forum isn't a wealth of knowledge, this is a toughie.

Things to consider: I know the USP .45 is the newer of the USP series. Is there a chance that they never made this part for the USP .45? In other words, do all the USP .45s, even the early models have this part? A look at a schematic might help. I know there is are two sets of schematics for the .40 and the 9mm (old vs. new, hilighting the difference between the hammer/trigger group or something like that). The .45 I thought only had one schematic and thus no old/new versions of the .45. Perhaps it is an American-only addition?

You might be able to talk an overseas member into obtaining this part for you if it is a strictly non-import part? At least you can post a question for a foriegn member who has a non-imported USP .45.

Just thinkin...

I had a .45 USP long before the key locks came out, so the guns exist.

Steve,
H&K would be crazy to sell you anything that would "disable a safety device" once they had knuckled under and started using it. The only way to get a gun without it would be on a large government agency purchase. I guess authorized personnel are just safer than you and me. Good luck finding the parts.

Jim,

Thanks for the info. Always like to file this stuff to the back of my skull for a time when it might be useful, such as now.

I'm interested now if there are two different schematics for the USP .45, because surely this part cannot have the same serial number as the original.

The good news is, then, that the part will be available if only overseas. I still suggest checking with the people that actually have the connections from the parts. Perhaps it's still legal to import foriegn parts, or is that part of the ban as well?

Go here:

Brayley Ballistics

and talk to Nigel (if you email, it will most likely be Nigel who will respond). I believe he can get you the part. I spoke to him a while back about getting some H&K parts and he said he could get me about anything I want. I believe they are based in Australia (can't remember, it says on the web site).

Nigel was quick to respond, informative, and seemed very knowledgable.

Let us know how things turn out.
