Need HELP....Maverick 88 Question

I just bought a brand new Maverick 88 shotgun, I removed the dowel rod, attached the barrel....but now I cannot get the gun to fire. It seems the trigger is "stuck" all the way back in the fire position. When I rack the slide it doesn't cause the trigger to come forward.

I am a shotgun newbie so Im thinking I've forgot something here but I've read the manual and cannot figure it out. Any help would be very much appreciated. Am I doing something wrong or did they sell me a broken gun?

I have one and mine has been trouble free, it is most likeley a problem with the trigger assembly. Send it back and get another one. As far as I know, you are not supposed to mess with the trigger assembly.

I believe in the manual it mentions that you should make sure you don't pull the trigger when the unit is disassembled because it might damage the trigger assembly and/or cause injury. Good luck with it.

It's no big deal. Pull the trigger assembly out of the receiver, and manually cock the hammer. Someone pulled the trigger when the barrel was not installed, causing the hammer to over-extend forward. When you reassembled it, the bolt rode over the back of the hammer, and it is preventing it from being cocked.

After cocking the hammer, reinstall the trigger assembly, and you will be good to go.
