Howdy,

Picked up a used Benelli M1 Super 90, and I am trying to identify exactly what model it is. According to the serial number it is pre-ban. It is closest to the current tactical model, with the 18.5" bbl, raised front sight, slightly different receiver mounted ghost ring sight, straight stock like the standard Super 90 with sling lugs on bottom of buttstock and on forend nut, & with 5 round mag tube with metal plug.
Is this a specific model? Did someone mix and match?

Thanks!

I can't remember the year but the older M1s will ghost load. I had a chance to get an older M1 super 90 that was made by HK. I think it was a 93 year gun. this gun had a shorter stock and it would ghost load.

The guy wanted 9 bills and I thought that was to much. I only give 7 for mine but it sure would be nice to have two gun.

I have seen pics of your gun. But they were new guns. you can put a mag extension and still be ok with that stock. But you can't put a pistol grip stock and and mag extension and be legal. This law has nothing to do with a AWB. It is some kind of import law with American made parts on the gun. The Benelli does not have any! So you can't jazz it up like a 1100 or 1187.

Maybe the gun had a mag extesion and the guy took it off? to be legal with a pistol grip the gun can't hold more than five rounds. or with a mag extension you can't have a pistol grip. It's a crazy law that not to many people know about.

Thanks Impact,

The serial number list I saw says it was imported before 8/94 - [M17142x - imp. 1993; imp. M1978xx - 8/94 - mine falls in there somewhere] so may be simliar year as yours. So those were HK-made back then?

I read in some old article that there were a ton of variations of Benelli M1s - so nailing it down may be hard! I will keep trying though!

yah shield20 it was marked on the bottom of the reciver next to where you put the shells. It was a HK proof mark.
