Hi, from a new user.
I could use some help identifying an old bipod that I rescued from an early landfill death. I have 4 Pictures that can be viewed at:

I found a Hart M2 flash hider for a Garand in the same box, so I thought that it might be for a Garand, but I can't find any info. on this baby.

Any help would be appreciated,
Much Thanks,
Brian.

Hello and welcome to TFL

Hope to see a lot of you.
Your bipod is the type issued with the M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR.) It's the later model, which attached to the muzzle of the barrel forward of the front sight. The original types were affixed to the front of the gas tube.

I found it in my copy of Small Arms of the World, 1973 edition, by W. H. B. Smith, as revised by Joseph E. Smith. Illustrations on pp. 663 -- 665.

Best,
Johnny

Thanks for the help!!

Many Thanks,
I did a lot of fruitless web searching on that thing.
The fact that I found it with a Garand part didn't help either.
Again, Thanks,
Brian.
