Need help identifying a flintlock pistol with removable barrel

I have a flintlock removable barrel pistol with no name on it. Just the number 16540 on it. Can someone please tell me how I could identify the pistol? I can send pics .

I have a silver car. Can anyone tell me what it is?

Nobody??

How about some pictures?

Wow, great way to welcome a new member to the board!:rolleyes:

She wasn't asking you to ID the gun, just how she could ID it.

allamericangirl, if you would care to post some pictures of your pistol, either here or in the Firearms Research forum, I'd bet the members could ID it in a flash.

Oh, yeah. Welcome to TFL. Most members are helpful and not rude.

If the barrel unscrews by the use of a key type thing inserted in the end of the barrel it is commonly referred to as a screw barrel pistol. They are usually smooth bored but can also have rifling. Dixie Gunworks offered a fairly nice reproduction for some years.

A picture will help, but you may wish to use Google and look at some photos. Any idea if the one you have is old or new looking? Any history attached to it?
