Thought I would get the input of some experienced shooters

I'm about to buy my first revolver and i'm stuck between three: S&W 627 5", S&W 625 5", and S&W model 10 4"

All I'm going to use it for is target shooting and home protection

What do yall think would be the best move
*price doesn't matter
*not going to conceal carry
*not worried about recoil

An N frame is always a good investment. I like 4" M10s though. I really apreciate 5" barrels too. My own choice would be the 5" 627 and put the M10 on lawaway. You can shoot 38 Special and +P from both. Common ammunition is always a good idea. The same dies could be purchased for reloading as a plus.

Of the 3 I'd say the 627. This will give you the ability to shoot .38 special at the range for practice, provide you a good sturdy platform, and allow you to shoot .357 if and when you want (I think that's a bit overkill for home protection, but that's a debatable point).

The 625 is a great gun, but you may soon find that paying $12/box for .45 ACP vs. paying $8/box for .38 special may limit your range/practice time. If this is your first gun you might want to get the one that shoots cheaper ammo.

The model 10, while also a great gun, simply limits you to .38 special. Why limit yourself with your first gun? And to me, the K frame .38s just feel "dainty". I prefer the heft of the larger/heavier guns (though I have and like a model 19, which is still a K frame).
